Homeworks and Tasks (January 15, 2011)

Okay, we all know that we have so many projects this quarter, excluding the fact that we still have YMSAT, Perio, and all that stuff. But don't worry, this is already the 4th quarter - the last quarter. So yeah, all we need to do is to give our best and learn from our past mistakes. I decided to split the list of requirements into projects and HWs.

Projects

  • Values Education Reaction Paper on the documentaries (individual; deadline: Tuesday, January 18, 2011)

  • Environmental Science Energy Resources Presentations (group; continuation: Tuesday, January 18, 2011)
  •  Geometry Mosaic Project (group; deadline: Friday, January 21, 2011; presentation: YMSAT Week)

  • Health Brochure (individual; deadline: Monday, January 28, 2011)

  • Music Listening (date not yet sure)
  • Algeb LT (Wednesday, January 19, 2011 --> not yet sure)
  • Physics Continuation of the ray diagrams (Monday, January 17, 2011)
I will update these lists as soon as possible.

And yeah, for the VALED paper, I found some links, although only one of them is a full video. But they still help in refreshing your memories and ideas.
Wow, that's a lot. God bless, SAMPA! :D

Homeworks and tasks (January 08, 2011)

Chemistry
The "World Without Polymers" essay paper is due on Monday, this week. 3-5 pages, 1.5 spacing, Times New Roman font, size 12.

Biology
Research for the Group Project(?)

Environmental Science
The presentations will start this coming Tuesday, January 11, 2011(Wow! Lucky!). Each group will given a MINIMUM of 15 mins. and a MAXIMUM of 25 mins. After the presentations, there will be a quiz about each. The group will provide the quiz for their assigned topic. Also, Ma'am Pie said that each group must give their presentation to her 24 hours before they present. I'm not sure which groups will present this Tuesday, but I think it's Groups 1 and 5.

"I would go through all this pain,
Take a bullet straight through my brain..
Yes I would die for you, baby..
But you won't do the same."

Group 2 in Envi. Sci.

What is this?: Our plans and outlines for our presentation about Hydroelectric Energy.
When is it?: Most probably Thursday, this week.
Who are we?: I (Mark), Victor, Monchai, Kitkat, and Josh.

Assignments:
  • Definition --> Monchai
  • Examples --> Monchai
  • Mechanism --> Victor
  • Before and After the discovery and development of Hydroelectric Energy --> Josh
  • Advantages/Disadvantages --> Kitkat

Outline:

I. Definition
  • What (is Hydroelectric Energy? <--- summarized)
  • When (was it discovered/first developed?)
  • Where (was it discovered/first developed?)
  • Who (was the first one who discovered/developed it?)
  • Why (was it developed/discovered?; OR; why do we need it?)
  • How (was it developed/discovered?; OR; does it help us?)
II. Mechanism
A few points about this one:
  • use simpler words
  • not too wordy
  • summarize, as much as possible
  • AVOID plagiarism
  • paraphrase, if necessary
  • use bullet format (we're using PowerPoint)
  • arrange in a chronological order (e.g.: 1. This happens first.. 2. Then this... 3. Then that... and so on.)
III. Examples

A. Philippines (focus on our country)
  • name of the hydroelectric power plant; location
  • name of another hydroelectric power plant; location
  • ..and so on and so forth.
B. (another country, preferably USA)
  • name of the hydroelectric power plant; location
  • name of another hydroelectric power plant; location
  • ..and so on and so forth.
C. (another country)
  • ...
  • ...
  • ...
A few points about this one:
  • use AT LEAST 3 countries, with AT LEAST 2 power plants, including locations
IV. Advantages/Disadvantages

A. Advantages
  • ...
  • ...
  • ...
B. Disadvantages
  • ...
  • ...
  • ...
A few points about this one:
  • AT LEAST 3 on each topic
  • summarize
  • AVOID plagiarism
  • paraphrase, if necessary
V. Before and After the discovery and the development of Hydroelectrical Energy

A. Before
  • ...
  • ...
  • ...
B. After
  • ...
  • ...
  • ...
A few points about this one:
  • AT LEAST 3 on each topic
  • summarize
  • AVOID plagiarism
  • paraphrase, if necessary
VI. Links and Resources
  • this link/resource;
  • that link/resource;
  • ..and so on and so forth.
VII. Quiz! >:)
  1. Question no. 1
  2. Question no. 2
  3. Question no. 3
  4. ..and so on and so forth.

Just a few more words..:
  • Why summarize? First, remember that we're doing a PowerPoint presentation. It would be hard for our audiences to see what we are reporting if we use a paragraph format. Second, we only need to focus on the basic and important facts. Lastly, we don't have that much time, and remember that there is still a quiz. For some tips and hints on how to summarize stuff in a PowerPoint presentation, I suggest that you look at some PowerPoint presentations that Ma'am Dacs made.
  • Aside from PowerPoint, we are going to provide our fellow classmates flyers and handouts, so that they need not to copy anymore.
  • PASS YOUR RESEARCH PAPERS ON OR BEFORE MONDAY, TO THE FOLLOWING E-MAILs: (Mark's:) gula.markjayson@gmail.com; gula.markjayson@yahoo.com; (Victor's:) victorlatios@yahoo.com. You must pass your research paper/s to at least one of MY e-mails, AND to Vivi's e-mail.
  • 3 G's... Good luck, Godspeed, and God bless! :D
